The correlation of Abtirsi and Population of a clan

Postby Matro » Thu Feb 23, 2012 5:06 am

Is it possible to pinpoint the approximate size of a a clan or sub-clan based on the abtirsi of an Ugaas, Suldaan, boqor etc.?

Hmm you mean how many generations back?

Hard to say really, clans grow when they do well and expand territory, and shrink when they lose wars.

There is a correlation though it may not always apply. Lets take Reer Aadan Mahad for example.
Reer Mahad has two bahs: Bihna Sharmarke and Bihna Nuur.
Bihna Sharmarke is the older bah. One jiffi of it is  Warsame Aadan and One jilib of Bihna Nuur is Cali Aadan.

Using there two as an example:
Warsame Aadan is older so he was probably having grandchildren whilst his brother was having kids. His oldest grandchildren were also probably having grandchildren before Cali Aadan kids were. Thus Reer Warsame Aadan abtirsi maybe 8 odeys to Adan whereas Cali maybe 5. In fact not too long ago Cali Adan son was alive. Thus goes to show that there is correlation between abtirsi and population although it isn't always the case.

Also if you want to correlation population with you need multiple abtirs' from each clan and multiple clan. You would then make a chart on side being odeys to clan founder the other being population. You would work out the average population for x odeys In each clan than take all those average and average them. Note it down In x odeys abtirsi population a. Then do the same for y number of abtiris'. DO Thus for a certain range ofab abtiris'. Draw a line of best fit.

Note: This need lot surveying
