During his life he fought the Habasha, Hadiya and Zalan kingdoms, a struggle in which he was initially victorious but eventually defeated.
In 1403, Emperor Dawit I laid seige to Zeila and took the city, and Sacad ad-Din was killed.
His sons fled to Yemen where they found refuge with Rasulid Sultan Ahmad ibn al-Ashraf. They would in time return to restore their father's kingdom as Adal.
